On 16 August, our Senior Partner, Nuno Sardinha da Mata, joined an accomplished group of legal experts at the Asia‑Pacific Cross‑Border Legal Services Summit Seminar, convened in parallel with the inauguration of Dacheng Shenzhen’s upgraded premises.
Dr. Mata delivered a presentation titled “Macau as a Strategic Legal Bridge for APEC Enterprises: Portuguese-Speaking Markets, the Belt and Road Initiative, and Cross-Border Structuring.” In his intervention, he highlighted Macau‘s unique position as a platform connecting China with Portuguese-speaking countries, and explored how the city’s legal framework can support APEC enterprises in navigating cross-border investment and trade, particularly within the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The seminar serves as a forward‑looking strategic dialogue on how legal practitioners can adapt to an increasingly interconnected global economy. Ranging from international arbitration to foreign investment compliance, the discussions underscored a paradigm shift in which legal frameworks are increasingly defined not by jurisdictional borders, but by cross‑jurisdictional integration and co‑operation.
