What We Do

Litigation and dispute resolution

The key to limiting exposure and minimising the impact and costs of litigation is to plan strategically and to have thorough legal advice capable of assessing risks and liabilities and making swift decisions.

Under the Basic Law, the Macau S.A.R. has its own independent judicial system, which comprises the Court of First Instance, the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court. The Macau Courts’ decisions are not subject to reviews or ratifications by any foreign instances. Macau is a typical civil law jurisdiction with legislation being the main source of law, as opposed to case law under a common-law system.

Encompassing the largest team in our firm, our Litigation practice has been widely recognised and respected for its broad experience in all its variations. Having been involved in many prominent litigation cases in Macau, C&C Lawyers has been handling litigation and dispute resolution matters for all industry sectors, including services in banking, finance, commercial, tax, employment, construction, real estate, probate, insolvency, insurance, information technology and intellectual property litigation, in both civil and criminal suits.

Headed by Álvaro Rodrigues, our multidisciplinary litigation lawyers have the technical skills and the wide-ranging knowledge that equips them to assist in all kinds of judicial and arbitrational disputes, including pre-litigation strategic advice and legal risks and liabilities assessment. Besides arbitration and dispute resolution, C&C frequently handles complex issues, such as fraud, asset tracing or white collar suits, as well as judicial reviews of foreign sentences.

Services include:

Mediation and Arbitration
Bankruptcy and insolvency
Commercial litigation
White collar crime
Debt collection
